Review: Artemis Fowl

If I had to sum this book up in one word it would be EPIC. It's perfect for people who root for the bad guy and love anti-heroes. This book is perfect. A criminal mastermind who's only twelve, killer fairies with guns and a flatulent dwarf. Awesome, right?

Review: Skulduggery Pleasant, scepter of the ancients

Stephanie led a pretty quiet existence until her uncle died. Not only did he leave her his mansion, he left her a new best friend- Skulduggery Pleasant, a skeleton detective (sorry, a supernatural  skeleton detective)- who waltzes into her life for keeps. No she's acquiring magical powers, endangering her life to fight evil, and trading snappy comebacks with someone without a body.
So much for her quiet existence.
Stephanie's big job is to find the Scepter of the Ancients- a weapon capable of destroying anyone and anything- before the evil Faceless Ones steal if for themselves. She just has to defeat a bunch of ghouls, kick the but of a clan of vampires, and hide her powers from the entire world (oh, and her parents).
No worries. She's got a bunch of bones on her side.


Derek Landy is my all-time favourite author. Even his self bio's are hilarious (The reason Derek Landy writes his own bibliographical blurb is so that he can finally refer to himself in third person without looking pompous or insane)! Skulduggery Pleasant is one of my favourite characters I've read about and trust me, I've read a lot. So if you'll read at least one book of my website, read this one.

Review: Shiver

The cold.
Grace has spebt years watching the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf- her wolf- watches back. He feels deeply familiar to her, but she doesn't know why.
The heat.
Sam has lived two lives. As a wolf, he keeps silent company of the girl he loves. And then, for a short time each year, he is human, never daring to talk to Grace...until now.
The shiver.
For Grace and Sam, love has always been kept at a distance. But once it's spoken, it can not be denied. Sam must fight to stay human- and Grace must fight to keep him- even if it means taking on the scars of the past, the fragility of the present, and the impossibility of the future.


Okay, so we all know that I don't generally go for the whole I'm-a-human-he's-a-werewolf-and-I-love-puppies-so-it-will-work-out thing. But I couldn't put this book down. It's great for people who like books like Changeling even if they don't like Twilight (shudders). Or if they're team Jacob or something (I'm team Eric). So if you like hot emo werewolf boys, give it a spin!

Review: Nightlight, a parody

About three things I was absolutely certain.
First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe.
Second, there was a vampire part of him- which I assumed was wildly out of his control- that wanted me dead.
And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogenously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

So, you've read my review on twilight. If you haven't, the overall message was that it sucks. But this parody of Twilight is HILARIOUS. It's about a girl named Belle Goose who is convinced that a germaphobe named Edwart is a vampire. If you hate twilight as much as I do and loved the movie "Vampires Suck" (which is also a parody of twilight) then you'll love this.
